LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR 12-MONTH PROGRAM

Southeast Music Institute wants to teach all of our students the ins and outs of music repair. To properly do so, we’ve developed a 12-month program that comprehensively covers both the coursework and real-life experience to learn how to repair brass, wind, and percussion instruments.

THE BREAKDOWN

Learn About Each Phase of Instrument Repair Coursework.

CLASSROOM LEARNING

We start our coursework with intensive learning in our facility. We split our days between traditional demonstrations and immediate application of your new skills in our shop environment. You will be learning how to diagnose typical instrument repairs, fundamental repair skills, advanced applications, and complete overhaul methods. Each student will learn how to repair each instrument type, plus get many opportunities to apply their skills and improve through daily practice.

APPRENTICESHIP

As musicians, we know what “practice” means. Instrument repair is no different. The more you practice, the better you become. What makes us different is we teach you the technical fundamentals of repair and quickly offer hands-on experience and tricks of the trade. You will get opportunities to shadow with local technicians and learn more about the daily expectations and get “real life” experience.

JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE

We will help with resume, create an employment portfolio, teach interviewing skills and Benchtest strategies. Explore our network of music stores around the country to ensure a “good fit” with potential employers.
